It also commits us to building staff teams which reflect the communities in which we operate. We particularly want to continue to increase the diversity of our staff in senior and teaching roles.
We offer bursary provision across all of our training courses to provide financial support to those who are on low incomes and from an under-represented ethnic group. Alongside this we are also offer a mentoring scheme where our students are offered the chance to be mentored by a current or recent trainee who shares aspects of difference that the student may be experiencing, for example, a lesbian student may seek to be mentored by a lesbian trainee.
The training team have ongoing reviews of how issues of race, ethnicity and sexuality are covered in both the curriculum and other teaching resources.
